Chamonix Mont Blanc is a town in eastern France in the French
Alps region. The town is right below Mont Blanc mountain.
Chamonix is a popular for tourists mainly as a winter sports resort. Winter
Olympics were there in 1924. Mont Blanc is the highest mountain in
Europe, so it attracts many mountain climbers and other extreme sports:
rock climbing, extreme skiing, ice climbing, paragliding, canoying or
rafting. It is also a haven for skiing and snowboarding. You can find
many kilometres of ski areas. Other local attraction is a cable car to
Aiguille du Midi - 3842metres, which was constructed in 1955.
During summer months Chamonix attracts alpine mountaineers, mountain
bikers and hikers. One can find many hotels, chalets, property rentals
and other types of accommodation that suits the best for their vacation
needs.
