Italian Alps

The Italian Alps are part of the mountain range Alps, located in Italy. The scenery of this part is really beautiful. They create a natural link between Mediterranean Sea and central Europe. South Tyrol Alps has rich history and marks there are left by Bavarian farmers as well as by European royalty.

Imagine flower blossoms meadows in summer or ancient limestone peaks, past farmhouses, onion domed churches and tiny villages. Some people like Le Corbusier consider Dolomites to be the most beautiful architecture on this planet. 

There are about 300 lakes of glaciers in Trentino. This area is a paradise for experienced hikers. But also other sports lovers will find something for them..for example Lake Garda is ideal for swimming, windsurfing, fishing, sailing, yachting or canoeing. Even well known thinkers and writers like Thomas Mann, Sigmund Freud or Goethe were attracted by this place.

These days most visitors come for their Italian Alps vacations to enjoy golf, tennis, paragliding, mountain biking or horseback riding. Not to forge a night life: pubs, discos, live music. There are plenty of hotels, chalets, rentals or other types of accommodations available.  And not to forget, famous italian cuisine with excellent italian food and wine. Visitors can choose from many restaurants.

Popular Places: 

Bolzano is the city with ancient castles and insights of history of Dolomites. Its ancient trading town is today distinguished by shopping street, colorful markets or gourmet shops. 

Val Gardena is a place where kings and emperors used to retreat during summer. Visitors can even have cooking lessons to master gastronomy of this region. 

Probably Cortina dŽAmpezzo is more know thanks to its ski resort, but also those who comes for summer vacations have a lot of interesting possibilities. Historic hiking trails to Dinosaurs route or the Iron route and to the mediaval Castle of Andraz. 

More to the west is Aosta Valley with four highest mountains of Europe (Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa, Gran Paradiso and the Matterhorn). There is a french cultural influence with traditional parades and carnivals.

The Piedmont Region is well know for Turin (its capital) with splendid architecture or cuisine. Recently for hosting XX Olympic games. 

The Lombardy region 

Lake Como, north of Milan stretches from Lugano for 50 miles to the Bergamo Alps. But for many the most beautiful lake is Lake Maggiore which is sheltered by an Alpine ring. Magical blue waters are surrounded by green hills that grows to mysterious Val Grande. All this and more is making Italian Alps very popular holiday destination.
